Period talk #1 : the best clothing to wear

When TOTM ( Time of The Month ) reached out to me and asked if I wanted to get involved with their #TalkingPeriods campaign I jumped at the chance to be involved. Why did I want to be involved? a lot of people get bit scared to talk about periods, I feel like the word ‘period’ is a forbidden word, but it shouldn’t be like that. Having a period is something that we don’t ask for in life, but women have it and we should be able to talk about it. I feel like if women spoke about it more, then we could help one another to learn and we could all support eachother. TOTM are a great brand that supply women with everything that they need for their period and the great thing is, is that their products are 100% cotton.

On the 22nd September they are holding a competition on their twitter page  and you can get involved by sharing your period stories or any tips and tricks you might have with the hashtags #TalkingPeriods. All users will be taken note of and you will AUTOMATICALLY be entered into a giveaway to win a 6 MONTH SUBSCRIPTION OF TOTM and also a cosmetic mirror. This sort of thing might not be for everyone, but I think it is such an important issue to get involved with and hopefully we can make periods more commonly talked about.

I am going to be talking about comfortable clothing that I like to wear on my period.

1. Jumpers and leggings!!!

There is nothing better than a big old comfy jumper and a pair of leggings to wear on your period. I think that being comfortable is very important because while you might not be feeling your best, you want to feel comfortable and a little bit at ease. Wearing a really tight t-shirt on your stomach won’t feel as good as wearing a nice soft jumper. You don’t want to wear anything too tight. Leggings are the best things to wear, I wouldn’t really recommend wearing jeans because they aren’t always the most comfortable bottoms and they are quite stiff. I always find it hard to move in jeans, whereas in leggings I can move more. You don’t want anything too tight around your lower stomach, leggings are good as they aren’t tight in comparison to jeans / high waisted jeans. I also think that leggings are great because they are dark and if you come through you wont necesarily see it.

2. Jumpers and Joggers / Tracksuit.

A little bit like jumpers and leggings, this is basically the same. It depends on what one you prefer to wear. I love love love wearing my Harry Potter tracksuit as not only am I wearing something I love, but I feel so cosy and cute as they match aswell. Feeling cosy and comfy is essential!! You want to feel comfortable and well protected and this will also help with how you are feeling in general when you are on your period. Joggers are thick and therefore it will make it harder for you to come through, but also they won’t be seen through like some leggings. Make sure that if you are going to wear joggers that they aren’t a really bright colour like yellow or white because if you do come through you might be able to see it.

3. A long top and leggings

I always find that if I am wearing a long top that goes past my bum then I feel so much more comfortable. Is it just me? I think it is because that area is covered up and even if I do come through you won’t be able to see it. Wearing leggings again is amazing and they will always be my go to clothing item whenever it comes to my time of the month. You can also carry around a jacket with you too so if you do have an accident then you can tie your jacket around your waist. You can still look nice, by having a cute top (every top goes with leggings) and you will be comfortable.

Clothing I would normally avoid

1. Tight clothes

2. Dresses and skirts ( on the other hand you shouldn’t let this limit you to what you can wear, if you have the right protection then sure, put on a skirt. you could also wear leggings or even thick tights under a skirt.

3. Shorts (especially to bed. Wearing thick long bottoms are honestly the best. This will also reduce you coming through when you are asleep.)

What kinds of clothing do you like to wear during your time of the month?

I hope you can get involved with the champaign and competition aswell!

  2. You know what, I just wear my everyday clothes. Not white jeans because you know what we’re not a bloody tampon commercial. And we’ll I don’t own any white jeans actually. But dresses and skirts I’m all ok with but I’m all about the comfy knickers 😂

  6. I’ve been surfing online more than three hours nowadays, but I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It’s beautiful value enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the web might be a lot more helpful than ever before.
