REVIEW: Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette!

– BEAUTY –

I received the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette for my birthday and I love it. I have wanted this palette for some time now and when I received it I was very happy.

This palette is one of the older Too Faced palettes and I know that when it first came out, everyone went crazy for it and I can understand why. Too Faced have once again, gone all out with this palette. The colours, the packaging and even the scent are all incredible! Like most Too Faced palettes it comes with a scent, YES IT OBVIOUSLY SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE! and who doesn’t love chocolate? if you have tried their Chocolate Soleil (which is their bronzer) it smells exactly like that. I personally love the idea of a product being so amazing and having a scent, that you can also apply to your face!!

The palette has 16 shades, with a mixture of mattes and shimmer shades. This palette is a neutral palette, with mostly brown and beige shades, but they do throw in purples and pinks to add a pop of colour. I personally love brown eyeshadows, especially because I have blue eyes I think that it really makes them pop. Therefore, if you are a lover of neutral palettes then this palette is definitely for you. The names of all 16 shades mostly have relevance to the chocolate theme and so do the colours, other than the pops of purple. I struggle to use purple in eyeshadow looks as purple isn’t a colour I would normally wear. When I saw the purple I just thought “Okay, most chocolate bar wrappers are purple” so this is where the relevance to chocolate is for me.

The packaging of the box is very cute, it is light pink and has a gold pattern across the box. The name of the palette is in the centre of the box and it has a vintage look to it. I can’t help but constantly be reminded that this product in general looks like a chocolate bar that you would see in Willy Wonka. The palette tries to realistically look like a chocolate bar as the lid has the same cut out squares that a normal chocolate bar would have. Inside the palette, there is a big mirror which makes travelling so much easier as you don’t have to take a mirror.

Just like all of the other eyeshadow palettes, inside there is a step by step guide of how to do three eyeshadow looks. Also what certain looks Too Faced have created, that you can also create with this palette.

I understand the colour is different in this picture, but I had a couple of problemssss. All sorted now though 🙂

First three rows, starting from the left side. Bottom of the arm going up- Gilded Ganache, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut, White Chocolate, Marzipan, Creme Brûlée, Semi Sweet and Haute Chocolate.

There is a mixture of mattes and shimmer shades,  but the palette is mixed with light and dark brown colours. I love to use White Chocolate as a base colour because it is white and anything is buildable on top of it. I also like to use Salted Caramel as a transition colour as like the white chocolate it is also buildable. Marzipan is such a stunning colour, whenever I am using this colour I like to spray my eyeshadow brush with a bit of fixing spray because it picks up more product. It is so stunning to use in the centre of the lid  blended out. Creme Brûlée is a lovely gold glitter colour, this would definitely be a colour that I would reach for if I was doing my makeup for going out at night. Semi-Sweet is a colour I reach for most days as it’s a really pretty colour. It is also easy to use, as it goes with a lot of colours. However, I do find that out of all of the colours in this palette this colour is the one that is less pigmented and I really have to swirl my brush around in this colour to get any pigment. I havent used Haute Chocolate yet, I am looking forward to creating a glitter brown smokey eye eyeshadow look!

The last 8 colours-
Milk Chocolate, Strawberry Bon Bon, Cherry Cordial, Black Forest Truffle, Candied Violet, Champagne Truffle, Triple Fudge and Amaretto.

Milk Chocolate is also another colour I reach for most days, it’s a really light brown colour and I also use it as a transition colour when I am doing a brown smokey eye. Strawberry Bon Bon is matte light pink colour and Champagne Truffle is a really stunning pink shimmer colour that I like to use over Strawberry Bon Bon. Also, this colour is really stunning under the brown bone so you also have a cheeky highlighter in there too. I also find that, if you like to use a powder to fill in your eyebrows then you have a lot of options with this palette.  Triple Fudge is a colour that I use on the outside of my eye lid as I use it as the darker shade to my smokey eye. There are a colour of purple colours in this palette that I haven’t used yet, but I definately want to  try using them as they would be a waste. I am still yet to try Cherry Cordial, Black Forest Truffle and Candied Voilet as these colours are all purples toned and arent colours that I would normally use.

This palette is worth £39.00 like most of their palettes, I definitely think you can find a cheaper alternative and most of these colours will appear in other palettes, but if you are a lover of Too Faced products or even just want it as a novelty, then this palette is great. If you don’t like brown eyeshadow palettes, then it is obvious that this palette might not be for you. If you do love neutral colours then this palette will definitely satisfy you as there are some beautiful brown colours in here.

Do you have this palette? what did you think of the colour range?

Thanks for reading xo

  1. This is gorgeous! Its a bit out of my price range at the moment, but I’m definitely putting it on my wish list. I love neutral colors and I like that it comes with a little guide. Thanks for writing this review. I don’t know a lot about makeup, so this is the first review I actually read about this product.
